Web Worker Daily » Blog Archive Yet Another Reason to Build a Case for Telecommuting «
There are a myriad of reasons to work form home, both either for yourself or for your real job. With the pricing of commuting going through the roof (gas, toll, car repairs, etc) the reasons are many. However, when :I work from home, there I days that I think I have had a really productive day, but others do not think I did anything. This is the risk one takes in order to either, save cash, or raise one's quality of life. If you are career driven , working from home on a consistent basis can hurt you. Your boss does not know what you are doing, your clients/customers think you are sitting by the pool working (which in reality would that even matter given that you get your work done?), and stuff passes you by. And there is the social aspect of office environment, it does pay to make friends with certain people, and that is hard to do form your home office.
I say all of this as I sit (working) at my kitchen table), but one must weigh the pros and cons. I for one feel that i should make every effort to get into the office everyday, even if it is only for a couple of hours just so people know I am there.
